Welcome to my mind. Take your shoes off and please make yourself at home here. First, an apology. This really is more of a random journal of things of stray thoughts, rather than anything fit for public consumption. And if you have a private blog/journal of your own, please send me the URL. One New Age-y thing that I really want to do is something I call "Six Months to Total Fitness". Since I'm basically lazy and need a group to inspire me to exercise, I came up with the idea of getting 100 people to dedicate themselves to attaining a state of total physical and mind/body fitness. Here's how it works:

We all agree to do a series of intensive exercise programs (varied activities - yoga, martial arts, tai chi, boxing, bicycling, etc), utilizing a number of teachers and trainers, and with access to a sports chiropractor, acupuncturist, nutritionist, etc. It's five days a week of training with two days rest, about two hours of intensive workout a day... for six months.

The goals are individually tailored, but we attempt to get at least 50 of us to the finish line: the milestone being the achievement of some sort of heightened physical wellbeing.

So I thought about this Six Months to Total Fitness idea, and it started evolving toward something like "The 100", which would be 100 people willing to commit to such a program for six months, with access to the best fitness instructors, nutritionists, chiropractors and naturopaths, gyms, bike shops and rental places, etc etc. The process would include a web based system for finding running buddies, mountain biking outings, Tai Chi, etc etc to provide some variety for the sometimes mindnumbing boredom of working out. Also, the goal of the work is not (just) to lose weight or look nice, but to achieve a state of emotional health based on physical balance.

If this works, we collectively own a "system" that makes a difference in terms of achieving balance and fitness. The testimonials for this fitness bootcamp for dotcommers would be pretty compelling, and we could probably syndicate it and turn it into a business down the line. But it starts with finding 100 people willing to commit to reclaiming the natural health of our youth, as we slowly slip into middle age.

We need:
1) 100 people to willing to commit to collaboratively design and implement the program
2) fitness industry people (trainers, sports physicians, nutritionists, massage therapists, sports chiropractors, Tai Chi and yoga instructors, etc) to help organize activities, resources, functions
3) seminar leaders to organize the monthly workshops and meetings
4) website designers to implement the online aspects

The kinds of fitness activities we'd integrate into a meaningful program would include: running, biking, spinning, weightlifting, yoga, tai chi, boxing/kickboxing, swimming, marathons, and so forth.

This would be stone soup, I could see us getting it together over the summer, and implementing it over the winter or maybe in the New Year. Finally, I see it requiring a cost of maybe $100 per month per person, which would defray the cost of an initial physical, spinal adjustments, cost of instructors, covering the cost of facilities and stuff, hosting the website, and leave enough to hire a part-time general manager to manage the entire program for us. Something like that.

Comments or feedback, anyone?
