Another poem...
-
I have seen her walking
walking with such ease
that butterflies will fall asleep
cicadas nap in the trees
I catch her scent in the breeze
as she approaches
I have seen her walking
she walks in cool disguise
she reads a book by Marguerite
she wears a hat from Mozambique
her grace and loveliness complete
I feel a muggy tropic heat
as she approaches
I have loved your beauty
your spirit even more
I have watched
your dancing arms
entice the avatars
your steamy undulations
tighten
the strings on my guitar
I love it when you hide your face
behind the moon
and in stars
Share with me the secrets
your esoteric ways
help me find satori
and take a holiday
You wear the morning like a dress
it shimmers when you're effortless
you've overwhelmed my consciousness
so what can I say?
When I am old and gray
and nodding by the fire
When a smile descends on me
you'll know what memory transpires
you are the fulfillment of desire
and like a funeral pyre
that dismisses all my priors
you're all that love requires
you're all that life inspires
I will see you walking
as I take my final breath
as you quietly embrace me
the opposite of death
