I just submitted my book of poems, titled Dharma Baby, to ten publishers. One shot me down immediately. Let's see what the others say! Most promised a turnaround of six months to decide!
Anyway, here's one poem. I took the first chapter of the Tao Te Ching, and rewrote it as a love poem. What do you think?
The Tao
you elude me
as I chase you
like a bandit
into a barren land beyond words or concepts
you are my path, my only desire
here
finally
crossing the border between heaven and earth
empty void
brilliant light
in an instant, the idea of thought emerges
and is the mother to all creation
free of hope or despair
I finally penetrate the mystery of your duality
to see what is real
I see you
hiding deep in a cocoon of abstraction
you greet me with a kiss
as I finally open this intangible doorway
to the darkness within the light
